Epic Black Metal treasure, coming directly from the US band ULGARD, which already proved us their talent and greatness with their first Fantasy / Folk Ambient full-length: "Songs For The Wanderer", in which they invited us to a mysterious and enchanting forest through a wonderful combination of folk instruments and vocals, to let us enter a perfectly crafted, ancient atmosphere. This time the band makes us travel through a cataclysmic and frozen storm, through which we will be able to discover, from a high cliff in the northern mountains, the beautiful sight of the days of old.

Faire passer le black par un équipement daté pour rendre le son brut de décoffrage, j'ai longtemps pensé que c'était Staurophagia le maître en la matière mais Obsidian Tongue l'a fait avant lui et tout aussi bien dans son premier opus, Volume I: Subradiant Architecture. On se retrouve ainsi avec un black metal qui rend hommage à l'école norvégienne, entre poésie ésotérique ("Approaching the Well", "It Dangles from the Bones") et guitares furieuses, mais il est aussi très moderne. Un bon album ! Jordan Vauvert

De l'action de descendre sciemment vers le néant au constat simple, lancé dans un dernier soupir, comme si on était mis devant le fait accompli : There is no beauty left here... Mais contre toute attente, ce chant du cygne d'Exiled from Light n'est pas une acceptation résignée de la mort. Mort (je parle de l'artiste) est animé de l'énergie du désespoir, cette énergie qui fait accomplir des choses extraordinaires quand tout est perdu et ça rend son DSBM très beau, paradoxalement. Indispensable !! Jordan Vauvert

Après un Through Twilight... passable, Mort crée Descending Further into Nothingness sous le patronyme d'Exiled from Light, un album de DSBM lancinant aux atmosphères spectrales bien meilleur. Malgré tout, le démon de la stagnation continue de le harceler : la batterie est le grand point fort mais certains schémas se répètent et, couplés aux riffs minimalistes, ils empêchent certaines pistes de se distinguer l'une de l'autre. Le début est un peu long mais cet album en vaut vraiment la peine ! Jordan Vauvert
